Statement

The images I am submitting are a variety of art work to demonstrate some of my different talents; I hope to show my ability to draw, paint, develop an idea, create unique and original pieces and my photography skills.
I gain the utmost enjoyment and feeling of personal freedom from creating my artwork; it is a chance for me to escape from the hectic events of daily life in order to express my thoughts, emotions and often opinions towards various aspects of the world around me.
Even before Chelsea I had a keen interest in photography; it has always been one of my strengths. On the foundation course my devotion and passion for photography has flourished. There is something about capturing a moment in time to share with others that excites me immensely. My artwork has become more emotionally charged and is often a result of inner personal opinions which express how strongly I feel about the surrounding world. Chelsea has introduced me to new techniques and ways of thinking. I have revelled in my new found independence within my work which was often restricted at A level; yet at the same time this has proved more challenging requiring constant motivation. I have therefore found the course stimulating and demanding.
I am interested in the fine art degree at Manchester because I feel this particular course will enable me to continue to explore multiple art practices; this is well suited to me as I pride myself on my open minded approach to my work and education.  I relish the freedom to delve into these different areas throughout my time on the degree course, and the opportunity to work within an open framework that will challenge me and guide me towards establishing a specific point of interest and talent which will then help me to determine a highly suitable career for my abilities.
